Description:

Cuba: Through the Lens of a Camera Exhibition and Sale October 24 to November 16, 2024, featuring photographic works by Dr. Ernest and Margaret Charlesworth of Bronte, Texas.

The Opening Reception will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 24, and the public is invited to attend free of charge and meet the Charlesworths.

In this exhibition and sale, most of the photographs feature the people of Cuba as they live their daily lives, as well as ones that capture the heart of the Cuban people as they celebrate festivals, rejoice in the birth of children, participate in the rituals of worship, and mourn the loss of family and friends. Other photographs highlight Cuban culture and history as reflected in architecture, clothing, agriculture, government, and visual and performance arts. Some evoke a pathos, and others reflect joy, even with the many life challenges in Cuba. These photographs reveal the kindness, vulnerability, and struggles of ordinary Cubans, devoid of any political commentary or judgments.

Raw 1899 hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
