Every year, San Angelo hosts a number of annual events including celebrations of Texas and cowboy culture including the Stock Show and Rodeo. As the Visual Arts Capital of Texas, our town showcases art, music, food, and wine events & festivals. San Angelo also has an array of unique events you won’t find in other West Texas towns such as Lilyfest, Showdown in San Angelo (drag boat races), Wake the Desert (wakeboarding competition), West Texas Tattoo Fest, Crush On the Concho Disc Golf.

Attractions in San Angelo

San Angelo was recently named the Visual Arts Capital of Texas - and it’s an earned title, displayed in the many Historic Murals, the Chicken Farm Art Center, Paintbrush Alley, and public art displays covering the entire city in beauty.

There are multiple museums to visit including the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Pop Art Museum, Miss Hattie's Bordello Museum, Railway and Heritage Museum, and Fort Concho Museum. You can even visit historic Fort Concho!

The city has a “Sheep Spectacular” tour to find the sheep statues from the Sheeptacular art project which are in front of businesses all around town.

There are plenty of reservoirs and parks, including a State Park and San Angelo Nature Center to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding river and diverse ecosystem formed around it. The Concho River Walk, International Waterlily Collection, and Angelo State University Planetarium are must-see attractions!
